The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida
by Shehan Karunatilaka
A darkly funny, genre-bending story that follows a photographer trying to solve his own murder. It's ambitious, moving, and unlike anything most of us have read this year — exactly the kind of book that sparks a real conversation.
Why I chose it: I wanted a book that would push us out of our comfort zone — something with heart, humor, and a lot to discuss. This one delivers on all three.

What to Expect
Format
We open with an hour of guided discussion, then let the conversation wander wherever it wants to go.
Discussion Style
Thoughtful, not academic. I bring a few questions to start us off, but everyone's take is welcome.
Social Elements
Wine, snacks, and time to actually catch up with each other — the book is the excuse, not the whole point.
Atmosphere
Warm, unpretentious, and judgment-free. No one's expected to have finished the book to show up.
